Yoga for Body, Mind, and Spirit

Finding the Right Yoga Teacher

As Yoga continues to spread throughout the West, and Yoga teachers increase in number, finding the "right instructor" may sometimes present a challenge.  I suggest trying several different teachers to find a type of instruction suitable to your needs.

Every certified Yoga instructor has something unique to offer their students.  A very strict and firm teacher may push and motivate us to find our limit every time we step onto our mats.  On the other side of the coin, a passive and gentle instructor may encourage us to take our time and find our our path through the postures as the body is ready.  The fact of the matter is that both these methods, and everything in between, are successful and effective.  Remember, our best instruction comes not from what is easiest, or most challenging but what we, as students, take from each experience.

What type of instruction do you need?  Every day may present a similar or very different answer.  It is important to communicate with your current and potential Yoga instructors before class.  Get to know your instructor; don't be afraid to ask them questions about their own practice and experiences.  Also, letting them know what you would like to achieve from your practice is the key to helping maximize your instruction time.

As an instructor dedicated to giving you the best Yoga experience I can provide, I encourage you to call me with your questions, concerns, and goals.  I look forward to speaking with you further so you can decide if I may be the right instructor for you.
